A firefighter with more than two decades of experience, Daniel Ahasic has served as a paramedic and firefighter with the Aurora Fire Department for the last 18 years. In addition to general firefighting duties, he has served as a member of the department’s paramedic technical rescue and hazmat teams. Looking to continually build upon his skills, Daniel Ahasic regularly participates in drills and training exercises that focus on areas such as emergency medical care and disaster response. He attends the annual Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) International event in Indianapolis, the world’s largest fire training conference and exhibition.

Mr. Ahasic also remains an active member of his field as a member of the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois and the Local 99 charter of the International Association of Firefighters. He stays up to date with the latest developments in the EMS field through publications in the Journal of Emergency Medical Services.

Mr. Ahasic began his career in 2001 as a volunteer firefighter with the Sugar Grove Fire Department in Illinois. Focusing on developing physical stamina and quick decision-making skills, Daniel Ahasic helped extinguish fires and execute rescues, as well as respond to local emergencies quickly and safely.

Before pursuing a career in firefighting, Mr. Ahasic worked as a concrete construction foreman with Tejada Construction. He also worked at the Chicago Board of Trade, serving as a clerk for two years. Previously, he spent two decades as the manager of a family-owned dry-cleaning business located in Downers Grove, Illinois, and helped construct and manage a golf course.

Outside of work, Mr. Ahasic enjoys spending time on and in the water and regularly participates in sports such as water skiing, surfing, and scuba diving. He also spends much of his free time working with his hands by remodeling homes and restoring classic cars. Active within his local community, Mr. Ahasic volunteers with the American Red Cross and the Wayside Cross organization.
